In honor of National Poetry Month, Village Books and the Colophon Café are pleased to be teaming up with Write Riot Poetry’s very own Jessica Lohafer to bring our first-ever poetry slam to the building! Well, the first that any of us can remember, that is. This is a free, all-ages (expect some adult language) event, space allowing. The Colophon will be offering drink specials from the bar and food to nibble as the slam goes on. Please support the venue by purchasing from the menu. The always amazing Ryler Dustin will be the featured poet, t’s going to be a gas.

Have you ever driven up to Mount Baker National Forest and check in at the Glacier Public Service Center? Or maybe you camped at Douglas Fir Campground or hiked around the Warming Hut up at Austin Pass. All those places and many more projects were made by the young men of Civilian Conservation Corps 1933 to 1940. Like the young men featured in Oakley's novel, Tree Soldier and Impero's non-fiction book, Boys of Glacier.

Village Books invites everyone to enjoy local talents as they share their own stories, poems and essays! Published and unpublished writers are encouraged to attend and enjoy a welcoming audience.

Open mic is usually held the last Monday of each month at 7pm in the Readings Gallery. Sign up at our main counter on the first floor or call (360) 671-2626. Andrew McBride, local writer and editor, will be hosting!
